Arms-length integration, on the other hand – via feeds, SWORD, OAI etc – can be interesting… https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/8sWCiwBKHd-F3_kA3I-1bQ?feat=directlink

I’m probably not the right person to ask about DSpace development…

Well done Sarah! BTW, did you know you also have the alternative DSPace XML theme available (https://qmro.qmul.ac.uk/xmlui/). Personally I prefer this to the default. ;)

Hi Paul. Needless to say we did more than a bit of this when we ported SAS-Space from DSpace to EPrints. Simplest way depends where you are starting from and how many files you’ve got. You could start with a spreadsheet, with one row of metadata per item (including the PDF file name), and it [...]

Two bits of news just passed through my Tweetdeck that I thought worth sharing, in case any of you missed them. The JISC Repositories Support Project is surveying the UK research repository scene. and has an online questionnaire aimed at repository managers. You can find out more about it on the RSP Blog (and maybe even win [...]

Hi Bernard – Not knowing anything about Sirsidynix, your approach sounds like the one I’d take. You probably have plenty of contacts familiar with Sirsidynix, but if you were interested I could put you in touch with our contacts at Tavistock Portman (they also have an EPrints with us) who told me yesterday a very [...]

Interesting discussions today about the possible future priorities for JISC repository funding. Can’t begin to summarise it (@dominictate may have better recall!) but repositories are at the heart of research information management initiatives, and other things besides. Balviar and the team are putting together some conclusions, and I’ll post links when available.

  • Richard Davis wrote a new blog post: Handy Hints: Using EPrints export plugins   3 years, 6 months ago · View

ThumbnailFor dynamic integration with other systems, EPrints 3.x has a wide range of available export formats for metadata and data. Depending on your templates and configuration, the many export options may or may not be explicitly shown. If they are, they are usually on the Browse View pages of your repository. Even if they are not shown, [...]

Good luck! Is Ethos part of the equation too or is this more about internal policy and processes?

I see that it is possible to disable the feature whereby users create “Friend” links between each other. There is a strong case that it’s not necessary among a group such as we have here, since I image we are all friendly to each other; on the other hand it does kind of underline that [...]
