Just curious – is there any technical benefit (i.e. extra functions) to adding each person individually as a friend? I would like to count everyone as a ’friend’, particularly with the size of our network, without having to do a friend request. Could we have a friendship request button for all members so we don’t leave anyone out? Ideas?

I think probably no real benefit, Erica, in this kind of community which is probably never going to exceed a couple of dozen members. Obviously this is a feature with more value in a bigger community. But perhaps just underlines that this is a ’friendly’ place :) and I suppose it’s a way to say a nice ”Hi” to newbies even if you can’t think of anyhting else to say at that moment. Perhaps we can weigh the pros and cons of keeping the feature or (if it’s possible) losing it – there’s a forum for that kind of thing
