    I see that it is possible to disable the feature whereby users create “Friend” links between each other. There is a strong case that it’s not necessary among a group such as we have here, since I image we are all friendly to each other; on the other hand it does kind of underline that “friendliness”. Options therefore might be

    1) Leave as is
    2) Disable the friend feature
    3) Disable for a trial period (now? later?) and review

    Any thoughts welcome, esp from our esteemed committee :)

    OK, so it took a little while for one of us to get back to you on this – and I notice you’re not drowning in protesters.

    Let’s be ‘friendly’ for now and see how it goes. Some of my colleagues have already ‘befriended’ me, kind people that they are. I guess it would be an indication of who has ‘contacts’ with whom for those that join later (so they can make instant contacts and get introduced to others).

    Are there other ways that it might be ‘useful’?
